Diana Dumitrescu and Cezar Ouatu will be the hosts of Eurovision Romania


Diana Dumitrescu and Cezar Ouatu will be the hosts of the semi-finals and of the Eurovision Final. The two artists will host the shows of the semi-finals on January 21st, January 28th, February 4th, 11th February and February 18th and also the Big Final of the National Selection, from February 25th 2018.

It was a great joy for me to accept TVR’s proposal to host Eurovision Romania, says   Diana Dumitrescu. „I watched this show since I was a little girl and I remember with pleasure the moments when I and my family watched with our breath held our favourite singers. I remember I was already working in the television industry when my father told me during a Eurovision edition <Look, here is where I want to see you!> and he showed me the stage. Even if he is not physically here with us, I am happy that his dream comes true and I want, from the bottom of my heart, to rise to the expectations of the viewers.” has added the actress.

I have represented Romania as an interpreter, I was part of the jury at the national stage, a jury member of the international contest, and here I am in 2018  with an exciting role – the one to host Eurovision Romania National Selection. I can say that I have played the most important „roles” in one of the most important movies of my life: the Eurovision movie! “, has Cezar Ouatu declared. „It is both a challenge and a pleasure and it is an honour for me to be part of this family again, has added Romania’s representative at the 2013 edition of Eurovision Song Contest.

This year, the National Selection will take place under the slogan „Eurovision unifies Romania! “ For the first time in the history of Romania’s participation at Eurovision, the National Selection will be made up of 5 semi-finals organised in 5 cities. On the background of the Centenary Year, the common theme of the 5 cities will be choosing Romania’s representative at the international stage of Eurovision Contest 2018.

The series of the shows of the National Selection has its debut on January 21st 2018 in Focsani city, with the first semi-final. The next four semi-finals will be organised in Timisoara (January 28th), Craiova (February 4th), Turda (February 11th) and Sighisoara (February 18th). The shows will be broadcast on TVR 1, TVR International and TVR Moldova, as well as on TVR+, starting from 21.00 hrs.

Actress and model, Diana Dumitrescu was born in 1983, in Constanta. She made her debut with the theatre play „Chiriţa at baths”, in 2003 and continued her activity in theatre industry performing different roles in plays like:  „Hârca comes back”, „We provide artistic services” and „A stormy night”. Along her career, she played in numerous movies and TV series such as: „Eva’s sins”, „The prisoner”, „Movies like love”, “Gender war”, „The queen”, „Aniela”, „Love and honour”, „Life bet”, „Lie to me beautifully”, „In the movie at the Godfather’s’”, „Lost angels”, „A royal Christmas”, „Another road” and „The unlucky man”.

Diana Dumitrescu had her debut in TVR within the programme on channel TVR 2 „New Year’s Eve at the Cabaret”, together with artists such as: Toni Grecu, Monica Anghel, Cătălina Grama (Jojo) and Dragoş Muşat (Tetelu).

One of the most talented countertenors of his generation, with a special musicality and a gifted vocal technique, Cezar Ouatu has represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, in Malmö, with the song „It’s My Life” (music and lyrics by Cristian Faur).

He has been admired and sustained at the Eurovision Song Contest, by celebrities such as: Bonnie Tyler, Andrea Bocelli, Vangelis, Angela Gheorghiu and Nadia Comăneci, praised for his originality by the famous designer Jean Paul Gaultier.

Born in 1980, in Ploieşti, in a family of musicians, Cezar Ouatu started to study the piano at the age of 6 and graduated the piano and choir sections at „Carmen Sylva” Art High school from his hometown. In 1998, he started to deepen his knowledge in canto and baroque music and made himself known for his voice, natural abilities and also for his remarkable vocal extension.

In 2001, he is accepted at the „Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory from Milano, and in 2004, he obtains maximum points at the state exam, graduating this way one of the most famous conservatories in Europe.

His unmistakable voice has determined his fans call him „The Voice”.
